Our Urban Village launch

On Saturday 22 September 2012 Sustainable Communities launched our localisation project, Our Urban Village, with a public ceremony and tree planting in Joslin Reserve, Joslin.

The ceremony included a song written for the occasion followed by a ritual of community strength symbolised by plants: thyme for courage and strength; sage for wisdom; orange for generosity; chamomile for patience; grapevine for abundance; palm leaves for success; ivy for friendship and continuity.

Ray read  Ode to the lemon by Pable Neruda as the tree was planted and watered.

Joslin Reserve was decorated with displays of solar cooking, recycling ideas, native plants and garden produce.
