Stepping Lightly on the Earth Film Festival

I went to the mini-film fest last month organised by Friends of the Earth Adelaide and Seed Freedom Food Festival. They screened several excellent short films which can be watched online:

WASTE DEEP by Sustainable Table is made in Australia and looks at the incredible amount of waste that is generated by the food system. The focus on plastic waste ties in nicely with the Plastic Free July challenge that is happening now. It also looks at several exciting initiatives that have been developed address food waste.

SEEDS OF FREEDOM looks at the industrialisation of the farming which has occurred in the last century and the detrimental effects this has had on diversity of seeds, cultural traditions, lifelihoods and food sovereignty.

The Seed Freedom Food Festival on Sat 27 September 2014 will be a festival that celebrates, informs and inspires South Australia about organic, local and home-grown food, as well as the worldwide need for free seed! THE HUMAN COST OF POWER is made in Australia. It looks at the environmental and health impacts of coal and gas mining. Again a very topical video given current plans in Australia to ramp up coal and gas mining around the country.
