The year(s) that have been, hot soup and good company!

As SCSA heads towards our 7th AGM it is a good time to reflect on how we got here, where we are and where we are heading.

SCSA (originally Sustainable Communities Norwood Payneham and St Peters) began in 2008 as a response to the then upcoming Federal election and community concerns about climate change.

We as a group should feel proud of our activities over the years and the efforts of our members. Our work has included local community markets such as One Planet Market, garden workshops, supply of garden kits, public presentations from nationally recognised speakers, food swaps, submissions on important environmental and social issues, research and investigation into alternative economies and strategies for dealing with the impacts of climate change … the list goes on. The majority of our efforts have occurred and will continue to occur through the various community groups.

Sustainable Communities SA continues to be a strong force. Some of our recent initiatives are to work more closely with other aligned groups. Recently we become a member of LETS and the food we will enjoy at the AGM will be provided through this system. We have made application to join the Conservation Council of SA and there is a great opportunity to work with this group at the new Joinery to create a fantastic environmental hub in Adelaide.

So I hope you will join us on 21 May 2015 for a catch up, to enjoy a welcoming mug of hot soup, some fine homemade food and an entertaining talk on the Adelaide Bee Sanctuary.
