Celebrating 5 Years of Marino Repair Cafe
In November, we will celebrate 5 years of our Repair Café
From Chris, a volunteer at Marino Repair Cafe:
We happily returned to our Marino home in June 2025, with the opening of the new Marino Hall and in November we will celebrate 5 years of our Repair Café. Over the 5 years in operation, we have saved an average of 35 kg of stuff from landfill per month which is an amazing total of 1,750 kg. The repair culture is alive and strong.
This year we were invited to be part of Holdfast Bay’s Unplugged at Partridge a community event focused on Sustainability. It was a very successful day and introduce us to a new community outside of our normal council area.
As with all the Repair Cafes, our volunteers are amazing in their commitment in turning up every month but also the enthusiasm they have in helping people with their household items. We also appreciate receiving feedback by those who attend with items to be repaired on our Facebook page.
Our current team of volunteers tackles a wide range of repairs, from electrical items and general/wood goods to tool sharpening, clothing, and bikes. Recently we have welcomed a new volunteer who is happy to delete all your personal information off old laptops, allowing you to recycle them without fear of sensitive information being stolen.
We are always looking to expand our team - jewellery and electronic/electrical repairers would be very welcome. If you are interested and live local come in for a visit or contact us via our Facebook page, or email Chris christeale1@gmail.com
